Austin Williams has had a passion for Downtown Sevierville's revitalization since the beginning of his career. Downtown Sevierville became the perfect home for his first, second, and third restaurant concepts. His real estate development company Compass designs and collaborates with Mountain Hospitality pre-opening of each restaurant.


Austin is a Sevierville, Tennessee native and graduated from Sevier County High School and Carson-Newman University. Austin and his wife Katie live in Sevierville with their three children, Harper, Rhett, and Baker.

David Rule is the Chef and Mastermind behind all 3 Mountain Hospitality Concepts unique concepts. David's years of experience in fine dining establishments across East Tennessee led him to expand his passions to Downtown Sevierville, Tennessee. David is a visionary, a creative, and a leader.


David lives in Maryville, Tennessee with his wife Cara and three kiddos Charlotte, Hannah, and Beau.

Steve Hansen

Director of Operations


Steve has been an integral part of the Mountain Hospitality team since The Appalachian opened in January of 2020. He oversees operations for The Appalachian, Trotter’s Whole Hog BBQ, and The Pines Downtown. His work ethic and dedication have been a key part to the success of all concepts.


Steve and his wife, Melissa, reside in Maryville, Tennessee. Outside of work, Steve enjoys all things outdoors, especially mountain biking and hiking. If Steve could recommend on hike, it would be Georgia’s Woody Gap to Preacher’s Rock.

Jessica joined Mountain Hospitality in March of 2022. Jessica oversees marketing, public relations, and communications for The Appalachian, Trotter’s Whole Hog BBQ, and The Pines Downtown.


Jessica is a graduate of Sevier County High School and King University. Jessica and her husband, Tom, live in Knoxville, Tennessee with their beautiful daughter, Sophie. Outside of work, Jessica and her husband flip houses. She enjoys home design and recreating homes other families can enjoy for years to come!

Derek joined Mountain Hospitality Concepts at the conception of The Appalachian in January of 2020. Derek is an integral part of our team. Beyond Derek's talents in the kitchen, he is hospitality-focused with a true devotion to the guest experience. Derek has a love for working in local, family-owned establishments and has an extensive career working at some of the best local eateries.


In his free time, he enjoys live music, spoiling his pup, Fury, and any activity that gets him outside! (After all, we live in THE most beautiful area.)

Prepare for a night to remember at The Appalachian! To set the mood for this culinary experience, the interior design is led by darker tones with touches of brass, stone, and wood. Our open-kitchen concept provides guests with a unique, immersive experience giving guests a front seat to our chef's work. The venue boasts of indoor/ outdoor seating, a full-service bar, and a private room that can hold up to 14. Events perfect for The Appalachian are wedding rehearsals, wedding receptions, fundraisers, or special celebrations.

At Trotter's, comfort is key! Trotter's has a casual and inviting atmosphere equipped with both indoor and outdoor seating, as well as retractable building-front windows. With provisions, chef-inspired pours, and pins to choose from, your event is sure to be unlike any other.
